We sponsor a monthly film series at the Crisis Center. Movies are shown that have educational and uplifting messages about understanding, accepting, and appreciating differences—differences of ethnicity, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc. Some of the movies are Hollywood releases while others are documentaries that are produced with small budgets.
After each movie, our cultural competency coordinator facilitates a conversation among attendees. It’s a chance for people to share their thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences with others in a safe environment.
The film series is free, and light food and refreshments are available ahead of time. Movies are shown the fourth Monday in the months of January, February, March, April, May, September, and October. For more information, contact Roberto Almanzán.
