211/CORD SPECIALIST

The 211/CORD specialist is responsible for answering 211 calls and helping to maintain resource listings in CORD (County Online Resource Database). He or she reports to the 211 director. Status: Full-time; non-exempt.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally relevant information and referral services by phone, consistent with standards set by AIRS (the national Association of Information and Referral Services) and CAIRS (the California Association of Information and Referral Services).
  • Help maintain comprehensive, up-to-date information on local health, social, and disaster-related services in Contra Costa CORD (County Online Resource Database).
  • Assist the 211 director in measuring the program’s effectiveness in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Assist in training 211 staff and volunteers in information and referral.
  • Work closely with staff in other Crisis Center programs to ensure strong coordination and effective service.
  • Share responsibility with other staff for carrying a pager and being available after hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the 211 director.

Qualifications

  • Required : Experience and ability to work with racially, culturally, and economically diverse populations.
  • Required : Excellent customer service skills, especially over the phone.
  • Required : Knowledge of local health and social services.
  • Required : Ability to share responsibility of being on-call by pager.
  • Preferred : Bilingual.
  • Preferred : Graduation from a four-year college.
  • Preferred : Completion of our crisis line training program.
